SANCTUARY CHOIR CALL TO WORSHIP

Stephen would like the Bell Choir to sing with the Sanctuary Choir, the Call To Worship, "Worthy is the Lamb" from Messiah.  This is a call to worship edition. Sing the first 23 measures (sing through section A).

OpenPDF_edited.jpg

CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY

DIRECTOR NOTES:  As Worthy Is the Lamb, anthem is concluding (last lyrics are "honour and glory and blessing"), pick up your bells for Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.  There is a direct segue from Worthy is the Lamb  to Christ the Lord Is Risen Today. The organ will modulate form D major (ending chord of Worthy Is the Lamb) to C major for the setup to Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.  Watch Stephen for the downbeat to begin the introduction to Christ the Lord is Risen Today.

From April 1 Sanctuary Rehearsal.  Raney Handbell M1-M11 introduction played by piano and organ, followed by Choir & Orchestra performing the Wilberg Christ the Lord Is Risen Today anthem from their M5 to the END

OpenPDF_edited.jpg
00:00 / 03:15

If it Helps, here is a MASH-UP of the Raney and Wilberg arrangements.  The recording begins with the Raney intro, merged into the Raney Variation 2 with first verse "Christ the Lord..." lyrics, merged into the Willberg "Love's redeeming..." verse where the handbells are tacet and we are singing that verse.  Followed by the Wilberg three measure interlude before the handbells play on the last verse with the Choir singing the lyrics "Soar we now...".  The last verse in this recording is the Raney Variation 3 at M51 unfortunately the Raney recording uses the lyric "Lives Again..." instead of "Soar We now..." lyric.  Don't let that confuse you.  The last verse still concludes with "Al - - le-lu-ia!".  The recording finishes up with the Wilberg last "Al--le-lu-ia" (tag) and AMEN.

DIRECTOR NOTES:  One Final Note on Christ the Lord is Risen Today.  Stephen will probably hold the last note of AMEN to the very end of the last measure and not cut off on beat 1.  Watch for his cut-off.

RESURRECTION GREETING  (2 minutes)

Jeff:  "He Is Risen!"

Congregation: "He Is Risen Indeed!"

Congregation stands and greets one another

DIRECTOR NOTES:  Ensure your bells are in position for Rejoice the Lord Is King during the congregation meet and greet time

REJOICE THE LORD IS KING

DIRECTOR NOTES:  Handbells play on all 3 verses of Hymn, Rejoice the Lord is King (1, 2 & 4).  There will be an organ, piano, orchestra introduction (in the recording).  Be ready to play as the choir begins singing the lyrics, "Rejoice the Lord...".  Be sure to watch Stephen near the end of the second verse.  He usually retards the end of the second verse, followed by a timpani roll before the beginning of the fourth verse lyric "Rejoice in glorious hope..."   Stephen usually takes the fourth verse a little slower than the first verses.  Watch for his tempo change.  At the end of the fourth verse play the AMEN.

Note a Change in Sunday's Planning Center:  There is NO third verse.  Handbells are playing on V1, V2 & V4.   There will be an organ modulation between V2 and V4 to move from the Key of G to the Key of Ab.  Use this interlude to adjust your handbells for the Ab key.  The video recordings (one has a tempo of 100bom and second has a tempo of 90bpm) play verse 1 and verse 2 then have an "interlude" of three measures of 4 beats of a drum between v2 and V4.   I expect the real organ modulation interlude will be a bit longer, but beware.
